Happy Beltane!

last year's Maypole Dance winds down
When do you celebrate Beltane?  Some are celebrating today.  I saw several events scheduled for last weekend.  Last night was May Eve, the traditional time for the festival and the time chosen by the Beltane Fire Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.  Their celebration looks amazing, but with an estimated attendance of 12,000, I'm probably better off enjoying the pictures and videos.

Denton CUUPS will be holding our Beltane celebration this coming Saturday, May 5.  We always go the first Saturday in May, because the last weekend in April is the Denton Arts & Jazz Fest... and we learned the hard way not to try to compete with Arts & Jazz Fest.

If you're in the North Texas area I hope you'll come out and join us.  Gathering begins at 7:00 PM and the circle starts promptly at 7:30 - we do not observe Pagan Standard Time.  For the eighth consecutive year we'll begin the circle with a Maypole Dance.  We don't select the dancers ahead of time, so show up a little after 7:00 and tell Erin you want to dance and you're in.  There are eight ribbons - first come, first selected.
